Fully online attendance in Doctoral Consortium

The Doctoral Consortium will be held in Zoom. In addition to the students and organisers, world-leading mobile HCI experts will be asked to join as discussants. In the beginning of the day, we will spend some time to get to know each other. We will then have about a 45 minutes slot for each student, ensuring that there is enough time for discussions and feedback to each student’s specific issues. We will do some physical stretching between the sessions to take care of the wellbeing of our minds and bodies. In the end of the day, there will be an “after work” session, where everyone is welcome to stay to chat – with a glass of wine or cup of tea, or what ever participantsprefer to enjoy virtually.

Message from the Doctoral Consortium chairs

MobileHCI Doctoral Consortium is more inclusive than ever! Since the consortium is held virtually in MobileHCI 2020, there are no limitations due to travel funding, visas or other usual travel restrictions. We hope that doctoral students from all continents and backgrounds will apply.

The MobileHCI Doctoral Consortium provides the opportunity for doctoral students to explore, develop, and share their research ideas in a multi-disciplinary workshop, under the guidance of leading researchers in the field. The unique format of this workshop allows students to receive constructive feedback on their thesis work, get advice about future developments, and share ideas and experiences with peers in related areas. We invite students within different areas of mobile HCI who feel they would benefit from this kind of feedback on their doctoral work to apply for the MobileHCI 2019 DC. The strongest candidates will be those who have a clear topic and research approach, have advanced beyond the very early stage in their thesis research but are not yet in the finalizing phase of their work.

We are looking forward to having exciting discussions with the future leaders of the field of mobile HCI!
