There are many accommodation options in Athens, which can be arranged through hotels or rented apartments (e.g. AirBNB). The conference venue (Eugenides Foundation) is at the south side of the city. If you prefer to stay close to the venue for easier access, we recommend searching in the areas of Palaio Faliro, Nea Smirni and Kallithea.
Alternatively, if you plan to experience the nightlife and sights, it is recommended to search for accommodation in the areas of Koukaki, Plaka or Syntagma. In this case you should plan for transport to and from the conference (approximately 30 minutes).
Athens has been the target of heavy investment in accommodation by local and international funds and investment groups over the last few years, spanning both the hotel and short-term property rental sector. This investment provides a welcome boost to the local economy, but has also been blamed for the increasing touristification of the city and the displacement of local residents. We invite you to consider making an informed choice while booking your stay, and to prefer smaller locally owned hotels or rented apartments.
