  • Crymlyn Burrows Guided Nature Reserve Tour (4th September)
    Explore the beautiful sand dunes and salt marshes of Crymlyn Burrows. This Site of Special Scientific Interest is home to rare plants and wildlife. Sign-up is required via the link by 26th August.

Castles

Wales is famous for its castles, and the Swansea area has several beautiful historic sites to explore:

  • Swansea Castle (Free)
    Hidden in the heart of the modern city centre, these striking ruins date back to the late 13th century and offer a glimpse into Swansea’s medieval past.

  • Oystermouth Castle
    Perched on a hill in Mumbles, this majestic 12th-century castle offers stunning views over Swansea Bay, featuring ancient graffiti and a rich history.

  • Weobley Castle
    A 14th-century fortified manor house situated on the beautiful Gower Peninsula, offering sweeping views over the Llanrhidian saltmarshes.


Beaches & Coastline

The Gower Peninsula was the UK’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You won’t want to miss our spectacular coastline:

  • Mumbles
    A picturesque coastal village at the edge of Swansea Bay, featuring a Victorian pier, boutique independent shops, and a vibrant local food and ice cream scene.

  • Rhossili and Worm’s Head
    Regularly voted one of the best beaches in the world, Rhossili offers 3 miles of golden sand and the iconic tidal island of Worm’s Head.

  • Three Cliffs Bay
    A spectacular shoreline featuring dramatic limestone cliffs, sand dunes, and a winding river, perfect for a scenic walk.

  • Clyne Gardens
    Wander through these beautiful botanical gardens, famous for their spectacular internationally significant displays of Rhododendrons, Bog Gardens, and Bluebell Woods.

  • Gower Heritage Centre
    A rural life museum based around a working 12th-century watermill, offering a glimpse into Gower’s agricultural past.

  • Gower Walking Festival (Starts 5th September)
    The annual Gower Walking Festival kicks off just as the conference concludes. Visit their website to sign up for your choice of 50 guided walks across Penrhyn Gŵyr and beyond.
