We invite researchers and practitioners to submit their work to the MobileHCI 2026 Demo & Interactivity category. The Demo & Interactivity track provides a space for researchers and practitioners to bring hands-on experiences to conference attendees. We look forward to seeing and trying interesting:
- Functional prototypes of devices and systems
- Mobile and wearable applications and services
- New interaction techniques
- Innovative examples of mobile experiences
- Toolkits and prototyping techniques for mobile and wearable interfaces
We welcome demonstrations & interactivity prototypes from students and researchers in all stages of their careers. We encourage undergraduate students and authors of accepted papers (details in the submission section) to contribute their demos. An appealing and innovative demonstration presents an opportunity to display further and disseminate your research and attract attendees' participation. Note that the demonstrations must be about research, not business. The demo forum is not an opportunity for marketing or sales presentations. Business-related visibility is only available for sponsors.
We encourage demos to stimulate interaction with the technology and between attendees. All submissions must detail how they are to be presented.
🗓️ Important Dates
- LBW submissions: TBD ~June 2026
- Revise & Resubmit: TBD ~July 2026
- Camera Ready: TBD ~August 2026
Preparing the Submission
We have 2 types of possible contributions: submission of a demo proposal that goes into ACM DL or requesting to do a demo based on a full-paper submission.
Submission Types
New Demo Submission
The submission should include:
- Description: maximum six-page (including figures, excluding references) of the demonstrated system, using the SIGCHI ACM single-column format. If the system has been demonstrated before, describe any changes to the proposed demo.
- Presentation plan: a brief document (max 1 page, single-spaced) outlining how you intend to present your work. The descriptions should clearly explain your setup, detailing what attendees will experience. Additionally, elucidate the presentation method, such as how the demo will be presented (e.g. if you will use multiple cameras, screen-sharing, interactive websites for virtual demonstration, etc.). Presentations should also include plans for any special equipment or setup that will be required.
- Video: a brief video (3 minutes maximum) showcasing your demo is optional.
Accompanying Demo for Full-Paper Submission
Accepted papers with interactive experiences are granted a place in the demo session by default. We highly encourage all authors of demo-able papers to use this opportunity to showcase their work and connect with the attendees. For full paper authors, we provide a more light-weight demo submission process: to indicate that a demo will accompany the accepted paper, authors will submit the presentation plan(s), demo video, and the submission number of the paper. In case authors would like to have an additional extended abstract published, they can also decide to submit an up to six-page description in extended abstract format. Self-plagiarism must naturally be avoided.
Length
- New demo submission: Max. 6 pages description + Max. 1 page presentation plan + max. 3-minutes video (optional)
- Accompanying demo for full paper submission: Max. 1-page presentation plan + max. 3-minute video (optional)
Formatting
Papers must be in English. Authors are required to use the single-column ACM Manuscript template. Submission preparation is described on the ACM Primary Template website.
For LaTex, the correct templates (Overleaf or LaTeX templates) can be found on ACM’s Preparing your article for LaTeX page, using \documentclass[manuscript, screen, review]{acmart}.
For Word, the correct submission template can be found on ACM’s Preparing your article for Word page, i.e., “submission template.”
The TAPS workflow we use is described on ACM’s TAPS workflow page.
All references must be complete, accurate, accessible, and conform to the ACM Publication Format.
Anonymity
Submissions are not anonymous. Authors should add their names and affiliations.
Supplementary Material
Videos can be of any length and should include closed captions and audio descriptions; see Accessible Presentation Guide. Other supplementary material may include, for example, survey text, experimental protocols, source code, and data, all of which can help others replicate the work. Authors should submit any non-video supplementary material as a single .zip file, including a README file with a description of the materials. Reviewers should be able to access the contribution of the paper solely based on the main PDF submission. That is, the paper submission must stand independently without the supplementary material.
Accessibility
Authors are required to follow SIGCHI’s Guide to an Accessible Submission. If authors have questions or concerns about creating accessible submissions, please contact the Diversity Chairs via diversityandsustainability2026@mobilehci.acm.org early in the writing process (the closer to the deadline, the less time the team will have to respond to individual requests). Papers flagged as inaccessible by a reviewer will be reassigned. Note that while we strive to match the best reviewer to each paper – the best reviewers for the work may not be able to review an inaccessible submission.

Use of Generative AI
Authors must adhere to the ACM Policy on Authorship regarding the use of generative AI in submissions. Authors are responsible for all content produced (including plagiarism, misrepresentation, or fabrication) by these tools and must disclose their use.
ACM Publications Policy
By submitting your article to an ACM Publication, you are hereby acknowledging that you and your co-authors are subject to all ACM Publications Policies, including ACM's new Publications Policy on Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects. Alleged violations of this policy or any ACM Publications Policy will be investigated by ACM and may result in a full retraction of your paper, in addition to other potential penalties, as per ACM Publications Policy.
ACM will investigate alleged violations of this policy or any ACM Publications Policy. They may result in a full retraction of the paper, in addition to other potential penalties, as per ACM Publications Policy.
Please ensure that you and your co-authors obtain an ORCID ID, so you can complete the publishing process for your accepted paper. ACM has been involved in ORCID from the start and we have recently made a commitment to collect ORCID IDs from all of our published authors. The collection process has started and will roll out as a requirement throughout 2022. We are committed to improve author discoverability, ensure proper attribution and contribute to ongoing community efforts around name normalization; your ORCID ID will help in these efforts.
Submitting
Submission Platform
Submissions are facilitated via the Precision Conference System (PCS). Authors may submit and edit their materials until the submission deadline. Should authors encounter any difficulties, technical problems, or questions about this process, please contact the Demo Chairs via </a>demos2026@mobilehci.acm.org.
In PCS, first click "Submissions" at the top of the page. From the "Society" dropdown menu, select "SIGCHI." Then, from the "Conference/journal" dropdown menu, select "MobileHCI 2026." Finally, from the "Track" dropdown menu, select the "MobileHCI 2026 Demos" option. After selecting all three dropdown options, press “Go.” In the table below, authors will see a new entry for MobileHCI with an “Edit submission” option; press this and enter all the required details.
Metadata Integrity
Changes in author names are not allowed after the submission deadline; there are no exceptions. Changes to the order of authors are allowed only before the camera-ready deadline. The metadata is crucial to the integrity of the review process and author representation. If any of the authors needs to be added or removed after the submission deadline, authors would need to withdraw their submissions/papers. Minor changes to the title and abstract are permitted during the revision period.
Selection Process
The selection process for MobileHCI demos is curated, that is, selected by an esteemed committee but not sent out to external reviewers. The curated demo content will be selected from demonstration submissions, accepted papers, as well as projects invited by the Demo & Interactivity chairs. Authors will not receive formal feedback on their submissions other than the selection decision. Confidentiality of submissions will be maintained during the selection process. All rejected submissions will be kept confidential in perpetuity. All submitted materials for accepted submissions will be kept confidential until the start of the conference.
The selection process will consider the associated presentation plan. Upon acceptance, possible changes to the plan may be requested to make presentations feasible at the conference (e.g., to fit the capacity of the demo space).
Upon Acceptance
Publication
Accepted demos will be included in the ACM Digital Library as part of the MobileHCI 2026 Adjunct Proceedings.
ACM will send authors a copyright form, which they have to complete. Once completed, authors will be provided with the ACM copyright information, which authors of accepted papers are required to sign and put on their papers. Authors are required to submit their camera-ready version through the submission system and process it according to the publication instructions.
The official publication date is the date the proceedings are made available in the ACM Digital Library. This date may be up to two weeks before the first day of the conference.
Presentation Format
Upon acceptance, you will present your demo at the conference. All demos must in person at the conference venue.
Accepted demos must additionally submit a 30-second teaser video, which will be incorporated into a demo reel available to conference attendees. Please refer to the accessibility guidelines for video submissions for more information on how to prepare your video.
The demos & interactivity track is planned to occur as follows:
- A short teaser video (30 seconds) of the demonstration, which will serve as a teaser for attendees. The 5-minute video submission will allow participants to experience the demo asynchronously.
- The demo track will be held during the conference. Demos will be assigned a booth (space and size will be announced later), and attendees can visit booths at any time during the demo session.
Conference Registration
For each accepted demo, a full registration for the MobileHCI 2026 conference is required by the early bird registration deadline.
