How do I communicate accessibility needs to MobileHCI 2018 organizers?
Let us know of your accessibility needs using the registration form. The relevant questions in the form are labelled “Do you have a disability or special need that we need to be aware of?” and “Do you need assistance from a Student Volunteer during the conference?”. Include as much detail as possible. The conference organizers will get in touch to address your needs.

What are the taxi and public transport accessible options for getting to the conference venue?Commuting between Barcelona and its airport can be done by taxi (around 40€), bus (5,90€), and metro (4,60€). Furthermore, the conference venue can be accessed by metro, bus, tram (single ticket 2,20), or taxi, details here. The entire bus network in Barcelona has been fully adapted for people with reduced mobility. However, the nearest metro station to the conference is not accessible for people with reduced mobility. The gala dinner will be held in Casa Llotja del Mar, which is close to an accessible metro station. Guide dogs are welcome in all the public transportation system. What is the conference space like?
The conference will take place in the Ciutadella Campus, Universitat Pompeu Fabra. More specifically, all events will take place in the Ramon Turró and Roger de Llúria buildings. The welcome party will be held in Ramon Turró, and lunch will be held in Roger de Llúria Building. They are, at most, 300 meters from each other, which is around 3 minutes walking. All rooms at UPF are on floor -1, 0 or 1, and are accessible by ramp or elevator. The full list of rooms for workshops, tutorials, etc., will be available in the program.
Will the conference be accessible by wheelchair or power scooter?
Yes, all conference rooms are accessible by wheelchair or power scooter.
Can a student volunteer assist me during the conference?
Yes, in case you need assistance during the conference, please answer the relevant question during the registration process (labeled “Do you need assistance from a Student Volunteer during the conference?”), including as much detail as possible. The conference organizers will get in touch to address your needs.
Will sign language interpretation or captioning be available?
No
What are the arrangements for presenters with accessibility needs?
All spaces for presenters are adapted for presenters using wheelchairs or power scooters
Will speakers and audience members asking questions be using a microphone?
One of the tracks of the conference will be held in the auditorium, both speakers and attendees will have microphones in the auditorium. In the classrooms (large ones) microphones will only be available for speakers.
What are the restroom facilities like?
There are restrooms adapted for wheelchairs and power scooters in all UPF buildings.
Can I bring my guide dog?
Yes. In addition, outside and very near the campus, there is a public animal relief area. More info, here.
Can I attend the conference by robot?
We are sorry, the conference will not be able to accommodate remote attendance by robot.
Will there be an induction loop in the meeting rooms?
One of the tracks of the conference will be held in the auditorium. There is induction loop in the auditorium.
What food service will be provided?
Coffee breaks, lunch and gala dinner will take into account dietary considerations. During the registrations process, you will be asked to provide information about it. Please provide as much detail as possible about your dietary restrictions.
Will the conference be a smoke-free environment?
It is forbidden to smoke in all the interior spaces in Barcelona, including the conference venue. However, smoking is allowed in open spaces. The Welcome Party takes place in an outdoor garden, so we cannot guarantee it will be smoke-free.
What if I have a medical emergency or health problem during the conference?
In case of a medical emergency or health problem please call 061. The nearest hospital es Hospital del Mar. It is 1.2 km from UPF, which is at 15 minutes walking distance. The conference organizers and student volunteers will also be able to assist you in case of emergency.
